Overview

Mt. Friendship Peak is a popular Himalayan mountain peak near Manali in the Kullu Valley of Himachal Pradesh, India. It is a favourite location for trekkers, mountaineers, and adventure seekers and is located at a height of approximately 5,289 metres (17,349 feet) above sea level.

The summit provides breathtaking 360-degree views of the Himalayan ranges in the area, including the Dhauladhar, Pir Panjal, and Kinnaur ranges. One needs to be in good physical shape and have previous mountaineering experience to climb this peak. It is difficult to reach the peak and requires proper acclimatisation.

Mt. Friendship Peak’s base camp is situated in Solang Valley, about 14 kilometres from Manali. The summer months of May to June and September to October are ideal for peak climbing because they are generally clear and have good trekking conditions.

The first day is set aside for the participants to travel to Solang and settle into their lodging. The first half of the day is set aside for getting acquainted with one another and the mountain air. While the body adjusts, we use this time to gather with the group and discuss the events of the next few days, including the schedule, what to expect, general dos and don’ts in the mountains, how to preserve the environment’s sanctity, and other crucial issues. Although relatively simple, today is very important for what will happen next! The first day is also crucial for getting all the paperwork in order, including permits and other documents needed to comply with IMF guidelines and state requirements. Each member must have these in order to set out on the journey ahead.

After breakfast, we will have move towards Patalsu for Acclimatization trek. We spend some time discussing the best way to pack your backpacks for a successful climb. This is followed by a demonstration of it, and then all of the necessary equipment is set up. Basic training will be provided to all on how to use the equipments.

Lady Leg, also popularly known as ABC campsite, is an Advanced Base Camp at an altitude of 3900 meters. The trek to Lady leg is quite strenuous so we will start early in the morning to reach the campsite by afternoon. As you move towards the campsite, the ascend becomes increasingly steeper and you must walk over moraine patches to reach the camp. There will be scree along the path and while you may need to catch your breath occasionally, do not miss the mesmerizing views around you. To make sure the journey goes safely and smoothly our mountaineering-certified experts will give you some knowledge about the technical aspects of trekking that are needed to make the summit. The day ends with a delicious meal and you retire in the tents to rest and recuperate for the upcoming summit attempt.

We have set aside one day for training and acclimatisation as we prepare for Friendship Peak. Another significant day in the trek will come on this day. You’ll pick up some practical tips and tricks to ensure your climb is smooth. You will receive some basic instructions. The final trek from advance camp to the pass is challenging, and the following day as you set out for the pass, your body must be completely free of the previous tribulations. It will be challenging to navigate the last trail to the pass because it will be covered in meadows, ice, and snow. Knowing in advance what kind of terrain and difficulties will need to be overcome the following day is a good idea. Additionally, the changes in the landscape that you will encounter while climbing will be explained to you. Your efforts to reach the trek’s highest point will benefit from the time you spent today acclimatizing because you will likely encounter a significant amount of snow beyond this point. After dinner, turn in for a restful night of sleep.

After a delicious breakfast at Base Camp, we’ll start the day early. The difficulty level of the trek on this day is moderate and includes both gradual and steep ascents. There isn’t much distance to cover on the trek. You can expect to arrive at the Advance Camp in 4-5 hours. It is recommended that you bring 2 liters of water. Down the day’s trail, you’ll come across a few water sources where you can resupply. Rest and explore the campground during the day. You will have plenty of time today to rest and recharge in preparation for the difficulties we still face as we work toward the summit. Tents will be set up for overnight camping.

Finally, we need to be prepared for the most anticipated and important day of the entire trek, which also results in the hardest day of the entire journey. Prepare yourself for an exciting day ahead by doing so.

We have to navigate a series of steep incline crossings before we can begin the trek. Even though the day is very exhausting, the ascent of the high mountain is very exciting. Because of the scree and moraine along the route, the descent takes a notorious turn. In this area, it’s critical to be more sure-footed.

We will travel back to the advance camp after spending some time at the summit. While we eat our dinner, we will camp out for a while. The day will come to an end when we spend the night in the tents at Base Camp.

An epic journey comes to an end on the last day of the trip and the last leg of the trek, when you descend to Dhundi and return to Manali. From Lady Leg, go back the way you came to Bakarthach and Dhundi village. We’ll set out early in the day to descend to a lower altitude as quickly as we can.

The return drive to Manali takes about an hour, and the descent takes about four hours. You will eat lunch en route, and you should arrive in Manali by 3 o’clock. The travel time to Manali will depend on the flow of traffic and the state of the roads. We advise purchasing late-night tickets if you intend to leave Manali the same day in order to account for any potential delays.

For a fresh start and to see the sunrise, get up early in the morning. Your ability to return to the chaotic outside world will be severely limited by the area’s stunning scenery and tranquilly. Enjoy sharing some beautiful pictures that will serve as a memory when you look back down memory lane in your life.

Disperse from Solang Valley after breakfast with lots of memories and adventure!
