Kedarkantha, one of the majestic peaks of the vast Himalayan range, is elevated to a height of 12,500 feet. Kedarkantha, one of the most well-liked winter treks, attracts lots of hikers and trekkers from all over the nation and is ideal for both beginners and experts. The summit’s name, which translates to “The Throat of Lord Shiva,” is the subject of numerous myths and legends, most of which are related to Lord Shiva. Local myths and folklore only enhance its charm and improve the experience.

The Black Peak, Swargarohini, Gangotri, and Yamunotri ranges, among others, are some of the ranges that can be seen from the summit and are well-known for their breathtaking views of snow-capped mountains after the trek is complete.

Participants who choose Dehradun to Dehradun package must meet us at the Haridwar Railway Station by 08:00 AM on Day 3. As per the mentioned schedule, participants will disperse on Day 7. For the Dehradun to Dehradun Package, accommodations on Day 7 are not included.

By 8:30 AM, we will embark on our journey to Sankri Village. After a lengthy but enjoyable drive, we arrive at Kempty Falls, which is close to Mussoorie, for a filling breakfast. You will enjoy the company and the lovely views of the Tons River’s serpentine course as our journey resumes. As we pass by Purola, breathe in the crisp air and take in the sight of the many pine trees’ leaves swaying in the wind. As you approach Sankri from the direction of Mori, you will see the Tons River joining a glacial stream to become the Supin River.

The final 22 kilometers pass through the Govind National Park, where one might be lucky enough to see some wildlife before we arrive in Sankri. So be sure to look around! You will be able to see Sankri as we get close to it at around six o’clock in the evening. This once-quiet village is now bustling with activity because trekking season is here.

Starting today, we will embark on a 4 km trek. We leave Sankri, head towards Sor, then ascend on an inclined road that runs parallel to a lovely stream to reach Juda-ka-Talab. We walk on a thick layer of maple and pine leaves as we cross numerous babbling brooks in the middle of the dense forest. Your eyes are greeted by the sounds of the streams mixed with the twittering of birds and the calls of the langur. You will come into contact with the local “paharis,” or mountain people, as you climb higher, and they will smile shyly as they greet you. In the midst of the tall oak trees, you might also see wild boars, martens, hares, and a variety of birds.

You will be amazed by this pristine lake surrounded by pines as we approach Juda-ka-Talab. It is located 9100 feet above sea level. The surrounding foliage transforms from a viridescent cloak in the summer to a stunning white cloak of snow in the winter, and the lake sparkles like a flawless emerald. You have the rest of the day to spend discovering Mother Nature. Get those cameras clicking! Enjoy a hot meal next to a warmer fire while gazing up at the stars. Tent camping at night.

As we make our way to the Kedarkantha base camp, which is located 2.5 kilometres from Juda-ka-Talab and at an elevation of 11,200 feet, the excitement grows. After breakfast, the distance can be travelled at a leisurely pace. Once more, we are in the lovely forest, and as we ascend higher, the ridge becomes steeper. The terrain is dotted with charming not meadows, as if to make up for its steepness.

By the time you arrive at the base camp around 12 PM, our trek leader will keep you entertained with some enjoyable activities. The agenda for tomorrow, a demonstration of how to use gaiters and microspikes, and an acclimatisation activity will take place in the evening. You have another night of stargazing ahead of you; you might even see shooting stars darting across the sky while everyone can see the faint outline of the Milky Way.

At 4 in the morning, after a delicious breakfast, we left to conquer the Kedarkantha peak. As we ascend the magnificent alpine peak and descend to the base camp in the same day, the trek is long and difficult. We follow the main trail, which has a consistent path for the majority of the climb. We ascend to a height of 12,500 feet. Over the course of the 8 km-long trek, it takes about 9 hours to complete. The breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape make the strenuous hike seem less daunting.

Every hour brings a new change to the scene as the sun rises higher on the horizon. As we get closer to the summit, the ascent gets a little more challenging and taxing. The mesmerising 360-degree view and the immense pride one feels after achieving the peak, which is no easy feat, are enough to make you giddy with excitement. It is definitely worth the effort while unwinding and taking in the views of the distant, snow-capped peaks. This would be the ideal time to flog yourself and revel in your victory!

You return to base camp, still giddy with excitement, and are met with a delicious meal where you can reflect on the day’s events and accomplishments with other trekkers.

The trek back to Sankri, which is the final leg of our journey, is 8 km long and takes about 6 hours to complete. We retrace our steps through the dense pine forests, where the lush greenery envelops us, as we descend to a height of 6400 feet.

We pack our bags with sadness as we get ready to leave this incredibly peaceful and divine area and say our farewells over a hearty lunch. Enjoy the endless vistas that surround you as we make our way back to Haridwar and snap a few last-minute pictures. You will have plenty of memories to bring home and share with your loved ones during the roughly 10-hour journey.

Participants are free for the day for Haridwar/Rishikesh Local Sightseeing. One can experience the exciting Bungy Jumping and River Rafting at Rishikesh. Prior registration is mandatory for Bungy Jumping (jumpingheights.com). Don’t forget to witness the holy Ganga Aarti at Ghats.
