Some journeys are just trips, but some turn into unforgettable stories. Our 3 Days, 2 Nights Jaisalmer Desert Camping with Rapture Holiday was more than a getaway โ it was an experience of Rajasthanโs royal charm, golden sands, and cultural magic.
๐ Night Departure from Ahmedabad
Our adventure began around 10โ11 PM from Ahmedabad Ring Road. The excitement was real โ music playing, late-night snacks, and endless jokes. The Rapture Holiday team managed everything so smoothly that we had nothing to worry about, only fun ahead.
๐ Morning Breakfast in Rajasthan
By early morning, we crossed into Rajasthan and stopped at the well-known Foji Restaurant in Shiv. Hot parathas and masala chai gave us the perfect energy boost after the overnight journey.
After breakfast, we continued towards Khuri village, a traditional desert settlement near Jaisalmer. By 11 AM, we arrived at the Rapture Holiday Desert Campsite.

We freshened up, enjoyed a traditional Rajasthani lunch, and were given an introduction by the campsite instructor. He explained the history of the desert, safety guidelines, and upcoming activities. The camp itself felt like a blend of comfort and adventure.
๐ฐ Afternoon Excursion โ Khaba Fort & Kuldhara Village

Khaba Fort
Our first excursion took us to Khaba Fort, an abandoned yet fascinating fortress. Once home to the Paliwal Brahmins around the 13th century, it still carries whispers of history. From the fortโs height, the panoramic desert landscape stretched endlessly โ truly breathtaking.

Kuldhara โ The Abandoned Village
Next, we visited the mysterious Kuldhara Village. According to legend, this village was suddenly deserted overnight in the 19th century. Stories say that the Paliwal Brahmins cursed the land before leaving, and since then, no one has been able to settle there. Walking through the empty stone houses gave us goosebumps โ the silence was louder than words.

๐ฅ Evening โ Dinner, Bonfire & Games
We returned to the campsite in the evening. Dinner was a spread of authentic Rajasthani dishes โ dal baati churma, ker sangri, gatte ki sabzi, and sweets.
After dinner, the fun really started. A bonfire was lit under the desert sky, folk music played, and everyone joined in laughter and stories. Rapture Holiday organized interactive games and competitions โ the highlight was a contest where the winner was promised a free trip!

Later that night, we went for a Night Safari across the dunes. Riding jeeps in the cool desert breeze with only torchlights felt thrilling. The safari ended with stargazing โ a sky so clear and full of stars that for a moment, it felt like lying under a cosmic blanket.
๐ Day 2 โ Desert Trek, Camel Ride & Jeep Safari
Morning Trek & Sunrise
We woke early for a desert trek. As we climbed the dunes, the horizon slowly turned golden. Watching the sunrise in silence was magical โ as if the desert itself was alive. At the base of the dunes, the Rapture team organized energy games to keep the fun going.

Camel Safari
Later, we enjoyed a Camel Safari, moving slowly across the dunes, just as travelers and traders did centuries ago. From the camelโs back, the desert looked endless โ truly humbling.
Jeep Safari & Sunset
In the evening, we switched gears to Jeep Safari โ pure adrenaline! Driving up and down the dunes at speed felt like a rollercoaster ride. We ended the day watching the sunset at Khuri Dunes, the sky painted in shades of orange and pink.

Back at the camp, we had dinner, then moved to a nearby resort program organized by Rapture Holiday. The evening was filled with folk music, traditional Rajasthani dance, and finally, a DJ night where everyone danced their hearts out.
๐๏ธ Day 3 โ Free Day & Jaisalmer Exploration
Some of our group returned, but I decided to stay an extra day to explore more.
Tanot Mata Temple & Border
We drove to the Tanot Mata Temple, a legendary shrine near the Indo-Pak border. Stories from the 1965 war say that bombs dropped near the temple did not explode, believed to be due to divine protection. Visiting this place gave me goosebumps โ a mix of faith and patriotism.

Evening at a Local Cafรฉ
Back in Jaisalmer city, I spent the evening in a cozy local cafรฉ, sipping tea with soft music in the background โ the perfect way to relax after a long day.
๐ฏ Day 4 โ The Golden City Tour

My extra day in Jaisalmer was all about exploring its treasures:
- Jaisalmer Fort (Sonar Quila):ย Built in 1156 AD by Rawal Jaisal, itโs one of the few living forts in the world, with shops, houses, and temples still active inside. Declared aย UNESCO World Heritage Site, it stands tall as the pride of the Golden City.
- Patwon Ki Haveli:ย A masterpiece of intricate stonework, built by a wealthy merchant family. Every balcony and window tells a story of craftsmanship.
- Gadisar Lake:ย An artificial reservoir built in the 14th century by Maharawal Gadsi Singh. Once a water source for the entire city, today itโs the perfect place to watch the sunset or take a quiet boat ride.

I also wandered through the bustling bazaars, picking up Bandhani fabrics, camel-leather goods, and traditional mojdis.
โจ Final Thoughts
From the Ahmedabad night departure to the Khuri desert camping, from haunted Kuldhara to the golden Jaisalmer Fort, this trip was a perfect mix of adventure, culture, and unforgettable memories.
Rapture Holiday made the entire journey seamless โ from meals to safaris, from games to cultural nights โ everything was thoughtfully planned.
And honestly, once you visit Jaisalmer, your heart will whisper the same thing mine did:
โBhai, one more trip here is a must!โ
